Professional Children’s School is thrilled to be celebrating the 30th Anniversary of the appointment of Dr. James Dawson as Head of School. The past 3 decades have flown by, and with Dr. Dawson at the helm PCS has seen some of the most monumental changes in the School’s history.

Since Dr. Dawson joined the PCS community in 1995, the School has transformed enormously. The building was expanded in the early 2000’s with a $9 million renovation, and the academic program has secured its place as one of the “Best College Preparatory Schools” in the US, according to Niche. PCS students continue to thrive on Broadway, at the School of American Ballet, in athletic training programs, in music studios, on film and television, and in so many more unique spaces.

We will be honoring Dr. Dawson as the recipient of the PCS Legacy Award at the 2025 Spring Gala on Wednesday, April 23, 2025.
