Summer Academy: Academics and Arts
Professional Children’s School offers the Summer Academy program for students in grades 6 through 12 who wish to continue honing their skills and knowledge. There are two types of programs available to PCS students during the summer:
Music and/or Acting Intensive
In-Person, June 20 – 30
Available to both PCS and Non-PCS students
Online, June 20 – August 20
Available only to current or newly enrolled PCS students
Please note: The Summer Academy academic courses are for newly enrolled and returning PCS students only. The Summer Acting and Music Intensives are open to everyone – both PCS students and students from other schools. All students must be enrolled in grades 6 through 12.
Mr. Sagona leads the two-week Acting Intensive, designed to serve students who are serious about the craft of acting and who have had practical experience participating in the rehearsal and performance process. Students will work on monologues, scene study, improvisation, audition techniques, self-tapes, and more.
Facilitated by Dr. Inman, the two-week Music Intensive is for students who are serious about singing in different styles, learning solid and healthy vocal techniques and approaches, and learning music reading skills. Interested students should have experience either singing in a choir, solo, or in another musical ensemble.
Current or newly enrolled PCS students can participate in several online academic courses throughout the summer. Courses are both non-credit and credit. Courses condense a semester or full year’s worth of work into 9 weeks, and participating students should be prepared to work regularly at their studies and apply themselves most diligently.
