Christina Ricci ’97 to be Honored at Professional Children’s School’s Anniversary Gala

Christina Ricci, celebrated alumna, is set to receive the prestigious Legacy Award, presented by the Head of Professional Children’s School, Dr. James Dawson.

Christina Ricci is slated to receive the esteemed Legacy Award from Professional Children’s School (PCS) at the commemorative 110th Anniversary Gala on April 17th at the Edison Ballroom in Manhattan. This award is presented each year to distinguished PCS alumni who have made invaluable contributions to their field. Dr. James Dawson, Head of School, will present the award at the event. Dr. Dawson has served as Head of School at PCS since 1995, having supported Ricci while she attended the School until her graduation in 1997.

Christina Ricci attended Professional Children’s School while pursuing her acting career. Ricci’s film career began when she was just nine years old, acting alongside Cher and Winona Ryder in Mermaids. In 1995, shortly after the success of her film, Casper, Ricci enrolled in PCS. Her career has spanned decades, appearing in such films as The Addams Family, The Addams Family Values, Now and Then, The Ice Storm, The Opposite of Sex, Buffalo 66, Sleepy Hollow, Monster, and others. Most recently, her television credits include Wednesday and her Emmy and Golden-Globe nominated performance in Yellowjackets. Ricci also starred in the Amazon original series Z: The Beginning of Everything, for which she also served as a producer and The Lizzie Borden Chronicles, for which earned her a 2016 SAG Award® nomination. Ricci has also appeared in multiple Broadway and Off-Broadway productions.

Ricci boasts an impressive array of accolades, having been nominated for prestigious awards at the Golden Globe, Emmy, Screen Actors Guild, Satellite, and Critic’s Choice Award ceremonies.

As the 2024 Legacy Award recipient, Ricci joins the list of past honorees which includes Jack Antonoff, Jason Fuchs, Barrett Doss, Anthony Roth Costanzo, and many others. Ricci is a prime example of how Professional Children’s School aims to serve young, career-minded artists, athletes, and innovators in balancing their academic studies as they pursue their dreams. PCS alumni are distinguished actors, dancers, musicians, athletes, and entrepreneurs, many of whom have legendary status in their respective fields. Along with Ricci, PCS alumni include Scarlett Johannson, Jack Antonoff, Christopher Walken, Suzanne Farrell, Tiler Peck, Vera Wang, Kieran Culkin, Yo-Yo Ma, and countless others.

The 110th Anniversary Gala will celebrate a milestone year for Professional Children’s School. The event will be held at Edison Ballroom in midtown Manhattan on Wednesday, April 17, 2024. Proceeds from the event will support the PCS Financial Aid Fund, ensuring more young people can access a Professional Children’s School education. Tickets are available at pcs-nyc.org/gala.
